  • Cut fresh ginger root and put the small slices in a cup of water. Boil it on low heat for 10-15 minutes. Make it cool and strain it. Add honey and drink this ginger tea 2-3 times a day for a few days or until you see improvement.
  • You can also make an herbal tea with one teaspoon of ginger powder, half teaspoon of black pepper corns and half teaspoon of cloves.
  • You can also apply some ginger paste on the affected area to get relief from pain.

Herbal Oil

Herbal oil can help your muscles relax and relieve pain. You can use any herbal oil such as eucalyptus oil, almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil.

  • Heat the oil to make it little warm.
  • Massage it gently over the affected area.


Garlic is an effective ingredient that is easily available at home. It can help treat a back pain. Eating 2-3 cloves of garlic on empty stomach every morning can reduce back pain. You can also massage the affected area applying garlic oil.

  • Take coconut oil, mustard oil or sesame oil and make it little heat . Add 8-10 cloves of garlic to it to make garlic oil.
  • Once the garlic turns brown, Strain the oil and make it cool to normal temperature.
  • Apply this oil on your back and Massage it gently. Keep it on for some time and then take a shower in lukewarm water.

Basil Leaves

Basil leaves can be also useful when suffering from a backache.

Steps  To Do

  • Take 8-10 basil leaves and boil it in a cup of water.
  • Make it cool  and then add a little salt.
  • For mild pain, drink this mixture once everyday.For severe pain, drink it twice everyday.

Poppy Seeds

Poppy seeds is a very effective remedy for backache.

Steps  To Do

  • Grind 1 cup each of poppy seeds and rock candy in a grinder.
  • Have 2 teaspoons of this mixture twice on daily basis, followed by a glass of milk.

Cold Compresses

Ice packs are effective in reducing pain and swelling. You can also use hot compresses to reduce back pain.

Steps  To Do

  • Put a ice pack or wrap some crushed ice in a towel. Keep the cold compress on your back for 10-15 minutes.
  • Do this regularly, give some gap between each application.


Wheat has analgesic effect that is helpful in minimizing pain.

  • Soak a handful of wheat in water overnight.
  • Add Cuscus grass powder and coriander in to it next morning. Then add 1 cup of milk and boil it for a few minutes until it becomes little thick.
  • Drink this twice on daily basis.

Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is useful in reducing pain and relieve inflammation.Use this below home remedy to reduce your back pain.

Steps  To Do

  • Make a thick paste using Epsom salt and hot water. Soak a cloth in it and squeeze it.
  • Put it on your back . The heat from the cloth will also reduce pain and swelling.
  • You can also mix 2 cups of Epsom salt to your bathwater and soak in it for 30-60 minutes.

Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea has various health benefits. It helps relax your sprain that can be the cause or symptom of a back pain. Try using this home remedy to reduce your back pain.

Steps  To Do

  • Make Chamomile Tea by adding 1 tablespoon of chamomile flowers in a cup of boiling water and let it steep for 5-10 minutes.   
  • Drink 2-3 cups everyday.


Milk is rich in calcium. Our body needs calcium to make bones stronger. Make sure that your body gets sufficient amount of calcium as lack of calcium can cause back pain.

  • Make a habit of drinking milk everyday. You can mix some honey to sweeten it.
  • You can also mix same amount of cuscus grass and sugar and eat it twice everyday with a cup of warm milk.
